v8 exhaust

i had stock headers with dual 2.5in system and 2 lukey straight through glass packs and the note was good
just fitted pacemaker extractors on the same system and my gf's camry has a better note
should i go to 2 chambered mufflers or go to a single 3in with single muffler
or should i piss off the mufflers and fit a resinator at the back??
i want my v8 noise back
what have you people done????

Re: v8 exhaust

The lukey mufflers usually give a fairly nice sound, especially with a twin 2 1/2" system. Changing over to supercat (cheap) or magnaflow (expensive) muflers will probably get a better sound. I have a single 3" lukey system on mine and it sounds good IMO.

Re: v8 exhaust

Yours is a curious observation. I had std headers, std cats and std Y-piece feeding a single 2 ½" mandrel bent cat-back with a single straight through offset centre Lukey and the note was pretty good. Fitting my pacemakers made a great improvement in note. Does yours drone? Can you explain what is so bad about the note now? Don't go to a chamber. They are more restrictive and are actually louder. I still have std cats and Y-piece. If you weren't so far away I'd offer to swap systems for a day and see how you like the sound of mine.

Re: v8 exhaust

Bigger cats may give a deeper/better note.
Talk to a few exhaust places and see what they say.

Re: v8 exhaust

well i have no note as such anymore
it used to sound great
it never droned though and not it sounds so smooth but sounds more like a std late model v8 i just don't get how extractors quietened it down
i'll worry more when i get some more cash
thanks for the replies
