Well, no XR6 (or any 6 for that matter) is going to have an exhaust to fit a V8. Really, you have 2 options to look for, a stock XR8 exhaust or a stock V8 (like a ghia one) exhaust. You could also try ringing around a few exhaust places, see if they have changed any AU XR8's over and have the old stock ones lying around.
Yes..there is a difference. If you are looking at just replacing your original system with something similar, have a look at the site below. HPX (or HM Headers as they were used to be known as) make OME for Ford, Holden and Toyota. Systems are available through Autobarn and Repco stores Australia wide.
A bit more. Here's the price listing for the AU V8's.
Going by that list, I think you'll need part No.HM1031IRS as the factory system for the AU XR8 was a dual/twin system all the way to the tips. At $1'924.40, it does sound a bit pricey though.
yes $1924 is a bit pricey ! ... I'll try and find one at wreckers, and as Casper suggested at an exhaust shop :-)
If you keeping the car for the next 4 to 5 years at least, then I'd probably think about the HM system, but if you are selling it soon, then the wreckers sound good to me.
