I finally bit the bullet and put on a cat-back exhaust. It's a 2 1/4 inch mild steel system with a central high-flow muffler and a 3" rolled chrome tip on the rear. Look decent, not too big and gives the PERFECT amount of sound, extra squirt and low down punch that I wanted.
I could have gone larger or put a slightly higher flow muffler in but I wanted comfort and driveability over sound, I do a lot of driving and didn't want anything too droney. It is inaudible at 100km/h, 80km/h and only just at 60km/h from inside the cabin but sounds the ducks nuts on acceleration, Euro sexy without any overt loudness. In my mind the ultimate system for a Zetec 2.0 manual. At least for me anyway.
I'll post pictures and even a video as soon as I get the chance, probably Monday. Thanks to Parramatta Exhaust in Sydney who did a brilliant job and who excel with absolutely every vehicle they touch. Speak to Nelson Fooks, a no nonsense genuine quiet guy who really knows how to please. I told him what I wanted and he literally did it. I just left the car with him, picked a tip and picked it up 3 hours later... BRILLIANT!!! HIGLY recommended.
Now it's just for some more hard driving, bedding in the exhaust and letting computer remap to get used to the increased airflow... mmmm... bring it on!!!!
I have also decided to sell my unpainted factory front spoiler, I paid $100 for it (BARGAIN!!!!!) and will happily pass it on for the same amount to anyone interested. Can deliver to Sydney or Melbourne personally (moving to Melbourne in 5 weeks!!!). PM me if you're interested or preferably if you are more than interested!!! I just won't suit my car now that it's lowered... plus I need every spare set of cash I can find with the move coming on...
well the exhaust has now run in BEAUTIFULLY and I had some serious fun getting the car hard through all 3 gears tonight on the higway on ramp, it seriously flys along in the cold air (8-9 Deg C) with the new zorst. I'm in love!!! Promise to post videos on Chris' website if possible.
Great mate, you sound really chuffed with it. Look forward to some videos. Did it fit in the current rear bumper cutout, or did it need to be made bigger?
Easily fit inside the cutout, 3" tip is perfect too, not too big, still looks small enough to be stock, but look closely and it look really awesome coz you know it's pretty big for stock!!! Just right in my books. Getting louder and deeper chested too which is just perfect, not too much. I'm happy as a pig in the proverbial.
Nice work Matt,
About time u joined the 2 1/4 inch zorst partol, i also noticed on cold nights with silencer out of my one that it does go very hard very quick in the high revs chirps shifting into most gears as well, i should of done a setup like urs coz u have no idea how loud mine is, maybe when u get down here i'll show ya.
anyway enjoy ur zorst and watch out for the cops hehehehe.
James

mine's TOTALLY road legal in my books anyway, happy enough to give a full blast next to a cop car, it's honestly just perfect. Sexy and meaty without being too loud. Hard to explain but it's just right for my ears which is what counts. No doubt very soon I'll be able to show you... the 2 1/4 inch Zetec patrol... he he he
good stuff. Well so far RATT and yourself are up for it, I leave in about 4 weeks. I'd hope John + Claire might be able to make it and Tim says he's busy but it might be possible... would be nice to have a drive or crusie together for one last time!!! I posted in the EFOC forum with the ideas...
