When you change the O2 sensor, you sometimes need to
disconnect the battery for 10-20 minutes to clear the ECM of
all it's "learned" data. When you restart it, it will
operate from a base map while it relearns the engine's
operating parameters. When you restart it after clearing
the ECM this way, allow it to start w/o touching anything
and idle for a couple of minutes until it goes into closed
loop operation. (The idle will drop). give it about 10
minutes this way and then shift the trans into it's
positions for a few seconds each to let the ECM learn the
idle parameters and then drive it around a few minutes. It
should behave well but, may take a couple of days driving to
completely relearn all the engine's parameters.
If you still have problems, you will need to fet the ECM
scanned for any fault codes that may have been generated.
They may give you some good info to aid in diagnosing the
problem. Many parts stores can and will read the fault
codes for free. If you do this, write down the exact code
and any description. Someone here can probably help with a
bit more information.
