yes

probably the clutch slave cylinder, but possibly the line. depends where
it drips from

My guess would be the clutch cable parted.

if it's a UK spec Escort, the common snag was/is the plastic ratchet at the
top of the clutch pedal, 3 quid to buy and a real bitch to fit. This
wouldn't explain the fluid under the car tho'

Probably a blown clutch master cylinder seal.
