what type of air filter is used for a 96 explorer 5.0 im using the
fram 8141 but it keeps clapsing causing the emgine light to come on.
any ideas

Take out the air cleaner. There is an inlet hole in your airbox where the
air comes in from the front of the vehicle. Make sure nothing is obstructing
that tube. You may have to remove the cover over the headlights to get
accesss to the front of it.

I use a Fram AIR HOG, Don't seem to be having the problem that you are.

Any chance you are getting a lot of water (or other liquid like oil) in your
intake? There is no way the filter should be collapsing assuming it is
staying relatively clean and dry. If a filter gets wet, (or incredibly
dirty) the engine vacuum will collapse it.

i’ replaced the filter twice with the right one and both of them
clapsed in two days
