Audio for 65 Mustang - my solution

The problem:

I wanted to replace my am/fm/cassette aftermarket radio with an original AM
unit. But, I use the cassette with my iPod so I could listen to it. Further,
I wanted better sound than the dinky speaker in the dash. FM wasn't
important to me.

One Pioneer GM4000 4channel 300w (peak) amp
A pair of Pioneer 6.5" speakers
A 4 x 10 Pioneer speaker (Ok, I had to buy two, but for $5 each, I could
deal with it....)

While not yet installed (car's in storage), I bench tested it and it works

I hooked up my iPod from the headphone jack into the RCA inputs of the amp
using a 1/8" jack to RCA cable.(I set the amp for 2 channel input, I am
using L / R on the A output with the 6.5 Pioneers for stereo sound and the B
output as a
mono into the 4 x 10, which mounts in the dash to replace the stock speaker

I also got a line converter (converts speaker input from a radio to the RCA
inputs) so when I get my AM radio installed, I can feed it into the amp as
well with an RCA switch.

Still need to pick up kickpanels for speakers and I will be set for the

By the way, I picked up the amp and speakers on Ebay for a pretty good
price. There are three 'commercial' sellers on ebay who sell mostly audio
stuff out of Toronto, so I simply picked the stuff up (they have a handling
fee for pick-up, but it's cheaper than shipping). They are oceans1,
1000goods and eldirect. Supposedly they get their stuff from the likes of
Future Shop. It's returns, demo and open shelf stock, etc. Sometimes missing
small parts and manuals. I had good success so far.
