NAIAS

http://autoshow.msn.com/

Just a few cents...

Best looking concept: Challenger
Worst disappointment: Camaro
Beyond absurd: Super Chief
What I want: Maserati
Boring: Most everything else

Anyone else?

Here's the link to the Camaro

http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/naias_2006/0601
_chevrolet_camaro_concept/

paste both lines

Mickey Kaus on Slate.com hated it.

I find it leaves me totally indifferent...GM OBVIOUSLY STILL hasnt figgered
out WHY the Camabird died.
Or why the 05 Mustang was a big hit.. and the Challenger is, on the eye-
appeal level, an even bigger one.

Here's an even more absurd comparison:

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/12/p...hallenger-and-
camaro-concepts-dead-even/

The ONLY reason that poll came out anywhere near even is that Bow-Tie
lovers are desperate for any current RWD platform.
Plus the few that were the market for the last editions... they want
their cars to be MEAN and Agressive looking while they are sitting..

And the FIRST thing many would do is slap an "03" decal in the rear
window. Which driver/owner attitude, frankly, is my ONLY reason for
hating GM and its products.

Definitely!

Agreed.

Were they going for that chopped hot-rod look maybe? It does look bizarre...

Heh. How about that Aston Martin? It looks like they ran that thing
through a taffy puller, stretched looooooong and skinny. :)

What's up with the Hyundai Talus? Is it suppose to be the AMC Eagle for
the next generation or something?
---
The Liberty was bad enough, but the Jeep Compass doesn't look even
remotely worthy of the name Jeep. It's got less clearance than my
Mustang! As for the Wrangler, as long as you can remove those crummy
plastic-clad bumper covers, it's all good.
---
Is it just me, or did Subaru simply copy a SmartCar for it's R1e concept?

No kidding. My first thought when seeing those pictures was, "That looks
evil, and not in a good way."

Second impression, after staring for a minute or so was, "Who the ****
let the Aztek's designers loose on the Camaro?"

Third thought: "It looks like a plastic splitting wedge with wheels;
It's just asking for someone to take a sledgehammer to it's back end."

:)
