New to all this and living in cold dark UK...I really need help
I have a 1997 cobra with a Ati pro charger until recent the car as been a
beast with its proformance.
Then a cloud of smoke and it juddered to a stand still
Off down to the local Ford dealers ...... I guess there not to good with the
computers there (not on 500hp mustangs anyway)
they said it was the MAF sensor (so the computer told then). I found a Pro M
MAF sensor with 30lb injector calibration. 36 hours it joined me in the UK.
The very same day the sensor was fitted.
You have guessed it the same symptoms........ MAF connected ...........the
car starts and stalls as if it's out of fuel.
Disconnect the harness and the car runs fine.
checked the wires and seems to be ok.
checked the added chip, on the ecu and runs with or with out it
So if you run with the MAF connected theres lots of black smoke
What do I need to check next?
Thanks Malcolm

Did you disconnect the battery for awhile to clear the codes?
Even after that it will run snotty for a little bit until it settles back
in, but mine only ran THAT bad on me right after I cleaned my intake and
throttle body.
Also, have you done a good cleaning on your fuel intake system? Maybe
something is clogged? Jammed open?

You MIGHT try cleaning the old MAF and replacing it to see if it works

Sounds ugly whatever it is. When you figure it out, let us know.
Hope you get it fixed.

OK got the problem sorted at last...............
It turned out to be a pipe off the induction! add a new clip and we are off
again.
Difficult to believe that this pipe leaking could cause that amount of
problems!
Thanks for your comments anyway
