tuning software (and trip to the track)

was at the track Friday night running the 01 Gt convert.
Anyway I felt kinda out numbered as the must have been 30 F-body's there and
at one time I was the only stang there.
Finally after about an hour around 10 more stangs showed up and kinda evened
things up.
anyway I was talking to some of my friends who run f-body's and they were
making changes to the cars on laptops in the pits now I knew you could do
this but was wondering if you could do this to Fords. mustangs in general.
asked several guys and most said no that the computer in the Stangs was
different and wouldn't accept the same changes the way Gm does.
anyone know if there is some software that you can put on a computer (like a
laptop) and take to the track and use it to make tuning changes.

Btw the car didn't run as well as I had hoped but my 60 ft times sucked.
best was a 14.78 at 93 MPH car was pulling much better on the top end than
previous run before I put the C&L system on.
60 ft best was a 2.19
car is a Automatic 01 gt convertible
only mods so far is duals with a H pipe and a C&L cold air intake and K&N
filter.
car ran 9.90s in the 1/8 the before I put the C&L on and now the time slip
here shows 9.50's in the 1/8 the so that was a improvement atleast
