1974 Gone in 60 Sec on Speed Channel

Hi All

Hey, just a heads up for ya...

Speed Channel is showing the original Gone in 60 Seconds in widescreen,
fully restored, with a bunch of extras at the beginning, mostly
commentary from Denice Halicki (Toby Halicki's widow) and J.C. Agajanian
Jr. (son of the famous race promoter and Indy 500 winning owner).

What really blew me away was at the very end of it all, they have THE
ORIGINAL ELEANOR running again with Denise Halicki riding shotgun with
an expert driver on a skidpad, sliding, smoking the tires, and generally
driving the heck out of it. Here's a link to a photo of Denise driving
the original car:

http://www.gonein60seconds.com/denice/Denice/

I remember seeing that car on a trailer at our local drive-in back in
the day...what a cool thing it was to see the car moving again!

It's possible that all this is on the DVD...but Speed Channel is free!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Just for clarification, that is H.B."TOBY"' HALICKIl (the car crash
king) driving the car with his wife (Denice) in it at the very end. he
did all of the stunt driving and directing of the movie.

But Toby died several years ago...his wife looks the same in the car as
she does in the presentation, from 2000.

The power of plastic surgery, either that, or she has aged very well.

Yes, but if you look at the photos of her when she and Toby got married,
she's a brunette. Now she's a blonde. If Toby had been driving the car
in the credits shot, don't you think they would have shown him?

Forget it, you just don't get it. The women in the car is his wife, end
of story. Argue all you like, but the facts remain the same.

Well, Bill, it looks like you met your stubborn match.

The end credits of the original Gone in 60 Seconds DVD has a scene where
Eleanor is being driven on a skidpad, in what seems like sometime around
when the DVD was released. The car has all the movie promotion
lettering painted after the car was used in the film. I'm not talking
about the actual film, but the DVD release documentary.

The woman riding shotgun in the car IS Denice Halicki, I agree with you
there.

HOWEVER, Toby Halicki is NOT driving the car, because he was not around
to drive it! The driver is never shown clearly. Don't you think they
would show him if he was driving the car???????

It appears to be this sequence listed on the Internet Movie Database:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0315906/

Possibly the car was being driven by stuntman Bobby Ore?

Bill, you're NOT always right...You weren't right when you said nobody
would give me top dollar for my 86 Mustang GT, and you're confused now.

I'm not always right, but in this case I am. Why, because I have the
original VHS released tape dated long before Toby died and it has the
same scene on it. Harrods Casino had the car on display for several
years all painted up just as it is on the CD version. One of the Guiness
Books also had a picture of it, but I am unsure of what year that was.

Well, good gosh Bill, why didn't you qualify your statement in the
beginning by saying you had an old VHS tape?

I had an old tape as well, but I don't remember seeing that scene.

If it's on the old tape, then you're right.
