Some Mother F-cker had the nuts to pickpocket me on New Years Day while I
was at work. What makes it so ballsy is that I work for Homeland Security at
Denver International Airport. I was a supervisor the on a Security
Checkpoint. AND I was in uniform. That takes some brass.

I feel for you. Hopefully they didn't get anything vital. I can well
imagine the paperwork for lost controlled access badges, HS
identification card, etc. Not to mention the public ridicule by fellow
security officers.... But don't worry. It was probably just some guy
named Yosef whose visa expired and was looking for a new identity.

Luckily only my DL and a few credit cards were in there. If all they were
going for was cash they only got $3. The rest probably ended up in a
trashcan somewhere. I had everything shutoff within minutes of me
discovering it was gone and nothing had been charged. I had pictures of my
kids, my Vet benefits ID, and a $50 gift card for King Soopers in there too.
Damn! There goes the next 2 weeks in groceries.

The biggest PITA is getting the new DL. I waited at the DMV for just under 5
hours to get my picture taken and a form that says my new DL will arrive in
the mail in 30 business days. Dammit!

Were you on security cam at the time? Given your position, maybe
someone would be interested in looking? Hope better days are ahead
and DMV gets your DL to you fast.

Nobody's interested. The problem being that even I don't know how many
cameras there are or just exactly where they're placed. On top of that.
Nobody is willing to look through ~2.5hrs of video on all those camera's
just to see if it even was caight on film. All for $3, 2 credit cards, my
ATM Check card, and my grocery discount cards. LEt alone the pics of my
daughters which are irreplaceable. Nobody cares.

Now if I were the Federal Security Director, then you can be DAMN sure 3
people would be watching all the videos simultaneously just to make sure it
wasn't missed by someone blinking at the wrong (right?) moment.

Well if it took 5 hours just to take a picture that should've taken 5
minutes, then I'm expecting it'll take at least the whole month to get the
plastic thing the picture goes on. It took them 5 hours to get through 34
people in the office I went to.

I have in the past and those guys are either nice or dickheads. Depends on
how they feel that week. Plus it didn't help when Bob Teets (the HCS
registrar) changed his mind on whether it was really an HCS or not. First he
helps his buddy sell it (to me) by saying it is one, and a 1 of 1 no less,
then leading me on for a few years as to my belief that it's authentic, then
he says it's NOT an HCS even though it honestly couldn't be anything else.
He came out against me the last time I posted it for sale at Newitt's place.
Even called me on the phone telling me I need to retract some statements I
made about the car.

It was a special order paint that just happened to be the exact color for
the HCS and just happened to have the badges placed on it correctly at the
dealership, just like ALL the other HCS's. What a PITA. This car has it's
status as a 1 of 1. Bob even stated in the Magazine article that it was an
HCS with a one off plant and build date.

Oh well. My life just KEEPS on getting better. My girlfriend broke up with
me today. What's next?? I don't have a dog to die. Maybe someone will blow
up the '69. At this point I could use the insurance.

My sincere condolences for the very frustrating rip off, and the
bullshit about the HCS. A unique specimen is always the subject of
controversy. I imagine you've been through all the steps with
documentation and authentication. One person changing his mind
arbitrarily and being a dick about it doesn't change what it is. Did he
build it? Did he go back in time?

Now go get drunk and see some strippers. Er, ahh... exotic dancers.
Can you arrange a grandparents' weekend with the kids, or something of
the like?

I think you need to let off some steam. I would be wilding around town
like an untamed beast this weekend, if I were you. Maybe you could go
to Vegas or Reno, screw the expense. If -I- don't blow off steam
sometimes, people can get hurt. Maybe you're a lot better at
sublimating it, but jeez, all this at once? My two cents says you'd
better just go FREAK OUT, man, and come back with some stories.

Do you know the VIN block the HC's came out of? Where does yours
fall in? How does your sceduled build date compare to the San Jose
cars?
