Re: I'm back you lucky devils

Hello Larry. I've only been around about a year. Good to meet you.
I'm Jason.

BB Jag, eh? I once knew a guy with a Ford-powered '55 XK140 with a
toploader. He rebuilt it "his way" after it languished for years and
rotted. Very cool ride. Headers were a challenge. It was a little
overpowered for the stock brakes and steering, but still a lot of fun.
Had a little trouble keeping the Salisbury rears intact also. It was
used for auto-x and general mayhem.

Also, aren't you #38? =)

Confused?

Can anyone name the author of this quote?

"I am old and need a number I can remember. I am not volunteering for
anything ( I learned that after I was drafted).
What IS my number, heh?"

Hint from CJ:
"38, which ya would remember if ya stuck it in yer sig like other
pipple do hereabouts. Senility izza beach, huh?"

This group is in a current revision. It *will* adhere to it's current core
values. The following is a re-post of the most current covenant of this
group authored by the founder. If you are interested, stay tuned for more.

AHPBBFM POSTING RULES
Usenet Discussion Group: alt.hi-po.big-block-ford-mercury

Revised 9/05

Primary Topics:
Ford engines belonging to the FE, 385, and 335 production families,
including identification, tuning, and modification of original and
aftermarket parts. ALL other engine families are off-topic.
All drivetrain components behind these engines as produced from the factory,
or components utilized for high performance or race operation.
Identification, modification, or restoration of any Ford. Mercury, Lincoln,
or Edsel model vehicles originally having an on-topic engine as standard or
optional equipment, with discussion pertaining to body, paint, interior,
electrical, cooling, braking, steering, suspension, and HVAC.
Coverage or mention of any event featuring on-topic vehicles.

Secondary Topics:
Discussions of American culture in the 60's and 70's including, but not
limited to, social events, music, movies, toys and hobbies, etc.
Personal anecdotes about the era or on-topic vehicles.
Current market events surrounding on-topic vehicles.
Discussions of scale on-topic vehicles.
Comparisons of on-topic Ford performance cars to other brands from the
Golden Era.

Not Allowed:
Religious and political statements, including signature appendages, that
endorse or attack a specific North American or Australian belief or party,
respectively.
Discussing late model or non-Ford vehicles, except in a derisive or
demeaning manner.
Advertisements for off-topic products, events, or websites. On-topic ads are
limited to once every two weeks.
Crossposting
Posting of pics or vids, which in most cases are filtered by NSP's anyway.

Participation:
New posters are encouraged to observe participation in this group by
established members before making their first post. An initial introduction
is highly suggested, as opposed to just jumping into the action.
New posters should know this is not a tech Q&A group for enthusiasts with
little or no mechanical skills, or that lack the impetus to gain such skills
or obtain basic material to aid therein.
If you are new to Usenet or are viewing this group from a Website, be aware
that this and other similar groups are not subject to active moderation or
censorship, and dialog can often reflect this. Any removal of posts from a
Web interface is executed by the administrator of that site, and not by any
member of this group.
AHPBBFM is home base to a group of Ford enthusiasts called the Thunder
Snakes. These members are registered and considered vested contributors
here. All are asked to carry their TS# in their posts for identification.
Rank has it privileges; this is not a democracy. You do not need to be a
Thunder Snake to participate here. You should have a sense of humor, warped
or normal.
Posters that are antagonistic, deliberately misleading as to identity or
origin, flame-baiting, or otherwise disruptive will be frozen out of
subsequent discussion. A freeze can be called by any Thunder Snake, and must
be honored by all participants. The idea here is to have fun and talk about
our listed topics without having to cater to the dysfunctional whims and
bipolar immaturities of the few whose lives have become exponentially
frustrating. You know who you are.

Definitions:
The FE engine family ("Ford Engine" or "Ford/Edsel"; the debate rages on)
refers to the design implemented in the production year 1958 that
subsequently displaced 332, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 406, 410, 427, and 428
cubic inches.
The 385 engine family refers to the design implemented in 1968 that
displaced 370, 429, and 460 cubic inches.
The 335 ("Cleveland") engine family refers to the design implemented in
1970, and includes 351C, 351M, and 400 versions. It is not traditionally
known as a Big Block design, but is included here for discussion
nonetheless.
"Drivetrain" as used in the Primary Topics section includes torque
converter, clutch, bell housing, driveshaft, u-joints, the entire
differential assembly, and any related parts.
"Golden Era" is generally recognized in the car hobby as the period wherein
domestic auto manufacturers first produced vehicles with elevated
performance features, typically from about 1957 to about 1971.

Other:
The official adult beverage of AHPBBFM is Arrogant Bastard Ale, often
referred to as ABA. It is not for wussies or small-block owners. Inebriation
prior to posting is not required, but suggested if you are a fun drunk.
The official weapon of AHPBBFM members is a rusty camshaft. Here, it used to
"knock some sense" or similar into someone. In real life, use of a rusty cam
to readjust an errant attitude exacts spectacular lacerations and
concussions and promotes the rapid onset of lockjaw and gangrene. Use it
wisely, but use it.
The official slogan of AHPBBFM is "The Big Block Attitude: Live It, Love
It". You might see references to BBA here and there. Now you know what it
means.
This discussion group was formed in November of 1999 by myself, Rick
"CobraJet" Brown, Thunder Snake Number One. This official Posting Rules page
is authored by me, but may be hosted by another Thunder Snake on his own
personal space for more efficient ongoing reference.
