You guys coming to the Glen this August? If so are you coming with
APEX, Phoenix CMR or both? I'll be instructing for P-CMR and the pit
boss again for Apex.

I instructed there last week for Phoenix CMR. The track did 6 million
in upgrades for the IRL. The guardrails are moved back all around the
course, catch fences around the track make it look like your in a
tunnel on some areas and there are no more sand traps. Pavement all the
way to the blue bushes. The grandstands are taller than the timing
tower and trees in the local area. You can see the top of the stands
across from the pits from Route 16 near Gate 2 as you approach the
track.

The racing surface hasn't changed.....well, if you use the lawn
between one and two like I've been know to do on occasion then I guess
they changed the racing surface. :)

Hey Ed, you gonna bring Stu down for a ride on the course? I could
have him giggling like a school girl after a couple laps in the mighty
Focus.

Hey Mike

I've signed up to help with Joe at the Phoenix CMR event in August. I doubt
that I'll be able to help Bob with the Apex event, with them being so close
together in time. Maybe I can drag Stu down, we'll see.

Later this month I'll be helping out the local vintage Mustang club with
their annual one-day event at Mosport ... I'll get to try out the big
aluminium rad, and upgraded intercooler that I've installed in my OT T-Bird
SC.

Stu and I thought that we might see you at Carlisle, but we figured that
you're probably busy as hell this time of year with the marine stuff.

Pocono on the 1st & 2nd with the NE Miata group (don't laugh, they are
short on instructors)....3rd & 4th with Apex.......I bought back my red
82 GT road racer that I had there last year, guy I sold it to blew the
engine. Working on the replacement motor as we speak, along with a few
other "upgrades" so that you can chase me around the track this year........

Hey Ed,

The boats have us hopping. We're hoping to get that GrandNational 7.0
liter motor (15:1 468 Ford) done that you guys were checking out the
last time you were out. It looks like it'll be putting out about 900
reliable HP. The boat ought to do about 165-170mph. We're testing on
Honeoye (no speed limit yet) later this month.....I'm not driving. :(

Did you guys see Tucker at Carlisle? He's gonna do the fall picnic at
a reaaaaaallllllyyyyy nice park about 8 miles from the shop.

I don't laugh too much at the Miatas. They really cook around the
course.....once you wind up the little key in the trunk a few extra
turns. :)

Due to my pit-boss duties I'll probably get out on the track once per
day near the end of the day. I'll most likely be running in your
group.....so we'll be able to dice it up a little. You'll be able to
chase me through the corners but the 'stang will eat the Focus on the
straights. ....remember, most of you guys are on race rubber and I'm
driving a car on real street tires.....not "DOT" race rubber but Z-
rated Sumotomos I bought at Sears.

You got any of those ClubCranky shirts in 2X?

Mike,

I'm running my car is street trim (just a nice set of Z rated
Kumos), as I sold off most of the 4 lug race wheels and assorted tires
last year when I originally sold this car. As for the XX Club Cranky
T-shirt, I'll see what I can dig up...........

We didn't see Tucker at Carlisle, but I did run into him last weekend at the
annual WNY Shelby Club / Great Lakes Cougar Club show in Williamsville, NY.
He mentioned the new location for the fall picnic. I'm certainly hoping to
make it down for that event.
