Actually it was not really OT in the venue that it's an example of the
humor "even demented" which I was talking about as a coping mechanism.
And it is humorous to me... : 0 )

All these things the others Snakes have offered are good advice.
I think everyone here has had bouts of this type of thing, whether
depression, self doubt, uncertainty at work or personal issues etc.
I've literally worried myself ill about some job at work the next day and I
have ALWAYS found when that day came it was never as bad as you figured it
would be. I don't anymore. It's just a job now... and knowing that is a
great burden lifter.
Main thing is don't worry about shit you can't change. Know yourself and
think about the things you have done and can do. Use these things to your
advantage, work on the things you CAN change
Stop drinking for BAD reasons. Play your favourite music LOUD and not the
depressing stuff either! Call friends, get out go for a walk....
I know some of this seems like psycho babble but it is really just common
sense.
Good Luck and as Red Green sez "Keep yer stick on the ice. We're all pulling
for ya."

Well, I disagree. When someone is *shown* that they do or say or
think things that are flat out wrong or don't make sense on a daily
basis, and they reply by saying, "Oh, don't bother me", then yes, they
are in denial.

It's an illness that slowly but surely reduces someone's ability to
think rationally. At first, this may be true, but eventually, logic
most unfortunately becomes moot.

I had to take a 12 week state certified course to learn the ins and
outs... People can "appear" to be fully functional, but their mind is
projecting a distorted reality which to them appears absolutely real.
It can be progressive and get worse over time, or it can go straight
to total distortion. This is one of the reasons why, when my ex
flipped out, she accused me of all manner of abused, then says to her
son that she wants him to maintain the same relationship we had for 15
years, but to remember that (I) abused her throughout our marriage.
Then calls him a liar when he tells her what she said to him. Granted,
that is hypo-manic depression (hyper manics go straight to a padded
cell), but Alzheimer works in very much the same way. Her grandmother
lived for years that way. The last 6, she didn't even recognize her
own children, but sure had fun on the "playground" her mind told her
she was on.

I recommend copious amounts of BC grown herb! It helps me so much more than
booze when I'm depressed.

Ever heard of a gravity bong?
I was introduced to this simple device in college, easily make from
ordinary household items (of course it is) and ended up with my heart
pounding 140x / min at rest (I counted, for fear of cardiac arrest),
hiding in a dark bedroom. Then, I calmed myself down, laughed
hysterically, and did another. And another. And then I played hooky
from class.
Best done with some good sticky, which it sounds like you've got. Uses
a lot per time. Usually, even serious potheads need no more than one
good one.

Yeah, it gets more involved than just Alheimer's. She does a lot of
what you just said. However, she has a "normal" demeanor that most
people think is just really sweet, but as soon as she thinks anyone is
trying to BS her or overcharge her or anything negative, she goes into
bitch mode and it's all downhill from there. She has been in more
verbal disputes with people in the last two or three years than I have
in my whole life (not counting Usenet). Don't even get me started about
Martian monsters, parallel worlds, or ghosts of relatives who hang out
with her at home. At this point I have to start weighing my legal
options, as she is misplacing funds and forgetting the rules of the
road. I don't see a good outcome here.

Ahhhh... that sounds like MY grandmother who, after living alone out
in the country because she refused to give up the last of the original
homestead, and did anything and everything to get attention. Even the
people hired to stop in and help her, were really nice at first, then,
after they had heard all her stories for the umpteenth time, she began
to accuse them of stealing her blind, so the state would get her a new
helper. She claimed to be blind, but we got her a painting for
Christmas one year. She ask what the painting was of and we told her
"ducks on a pond", to which she replied... 'they're mallards." Musta
been ESP. : 0 ) I'm just waiting for my folks (75 and 80) to start...
