I have a 1992 F-350 cab chassis with manual hubs and 4x4 shift on the floor
and I can't get it to engage. I lock the hubs, shift to neutral and I can
shift to 4 Lo but not 4 Hi. The shifter says to "push down" but that doesn't
do anything. Am I missing something or is something broken?

You need to have the vehicle moving straight ahead or straight backwards
about 5 mph.

Not sure if it's like my '02 F350 with manual hubs and xfer case
lever, but I've got to be moving a bit for 4wd to engage. Nothing
like that satisfying "It's in 4wd dammit!" clunk when it engages..
