Best place F150 brake job?

It's time for a brake job on my F150. I have several places from which to
choose: Ford, Goodyear, Firestone, Just Brakes, Midas, and Pep Boys. Any
suggestions on who might do the best job using the best parts?

I'd suggest Ford if you aren't able to do them yourself... and I've avoid
Pep Boys like the plaugue.

I'm not exactly mechanically inclined. Folks like me keep the pros in
business. :-)

hehe, point taken.. Personally, I'd STFA (Stay The F*** Away) from
any of the chain shops.. The dealer will ream you on the price but at
least you'll get reasonable service from them.

I've had VERY good luck with a local guy who runs his own shop for
jobs I either didn't feel like doing myself, or didn't have the
time/expertise to do so. Very reasonable prices and top notch work.
Any chance you can find a decent "mom 'n pop" shop in your area?

Hi John,

Where do you buy your gas ??? Do they also run a repair shop ??? If you
trust them for your gas, you should also be able to trust them for your repairs.
I own a gas station/repair shop, and most of my gas customers are my repair
customers. They trust me for their gas, and they trust me for their service &
repairs.

Stay away from the "chain" shops. Don't you read the papers and watch TV
??? All the technicians at these chain shops are on commision. The more they
sell, the more they make. They all know that if they F%&K you good, you will
never come back---but they made their $$$$ on you, and that's what counts. I
have a "chain" shop around the corner from me. They advertise a $49.99 brake
special all the time. One of my customers once asked me how much to replace his
front pads. I told him about $140---parts & labor. He went around the corner for
the $49.99 special. He left there with a $787 bill. They sold him pads, rotors,
calipers, and to throw some salt in the wound, they also sold him a pair of rear
springs. They told him that the car was too dangerous to drive out of their shop
without their "necessary" repairs, and that it was already apart, and would cost
him about $400 to put it back together. They also told him that the brakes
probably would not work if they reassembled it without fixing it. He was stuck,
and he got F%&KED good. He never went back there again, just like 99% of the
people that go there. He comes to me, a local repair shop, and gets good service
at a fair (not a cheap come on) price. He learned his lesson, just like millions
of other people.

Do yourself a favor, and find a local repair shop that people trust. Ask
your neighbors & friends--I'm sure that they know of a good local shop.

RON
