The headgasket went out on my contour and it swallowed some coolant. So I tore the car apart and replaced the head gasket and changed the oil. Now i have a different problem. About ten munits after teh car is already at operating temp, the oil pressure light starts to flicker. Over the span of 2-3 miniuts the flickering increasesand the presure light stays on and the egine starts to tick, at this point I turn the car off.
A few questions.... Does anyone have any clue what would cause this and what can be done to fix it? I am pretty confident the pressure doess drop when the light comes on (the ticking). This car has over 250k miles on it and as hopeful as I can be I am hoping the cam/crankshaft bearings didn't get wiped up when the gasket blew. If they did could switching to a thicker oil help?
