confused 1997 Mondeo hatch lock problem

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so please be gentle! I have a 1997 Mondeo 2.0 Auto hatch. Yesterday morning I had a flat battery, and after unlocking the hatch with the key, to remove my jump leads and getting it started found that the hatch no longer opens using the button, but will open fine with the key. Central locking works fine on the doors, but I recoded the key anyway just in case... Can anybody help - using the key to get in the back of the car is proving to be a real pain - and it's only been one day so far!
Thanks in advance for help.

Ian

Sounds a lot like the boot lock motor, you'll find it under the rear-most trims in the boot. Sometimes you can get it to work again by some pursuasion with the 'knock-ometer' (hammer) on the metal portion under the boot latch.

Cheers - I'll try the "knock-ometer" technique today!
