2004 Ford Mondeo Debuts In China

GUILIN, China,Feb 13 2004 - Changan Ford, Ford Motor Company's passenger car joint venture in China, today unveiled the 2004 Ford Mondeo, an upscale sedan, to the Chinese market. At a launching ceremony in the city of Guilin, Guangxi Province in South China, Changan Ford introduced the 2004 Ford Mondeo to the media and the public.
The German-designed 2004 Ford Mondeo was described by Changan Ford as the flagship of its "world cars," which share technologies with other products launched worldwide. The new 2004 Ford Mondeo introduced to the China market is equipped with dozens of upgrading designs and luxury features.
"The 2004 Ford Mondeo is an exciting new product," said Ron Tyack, president and chief executive officer of Changan Ford. "It's the flagship of Ford family's world car series, the new 2004 Ford Mondeo places the China market at the very front of global cars and provides Chinese consumer access to our global flagship. It will surely help to heat up the 2004 Chinese car market."
The newly introduced Ford Mondeo is available in two models, the Mondeo 2.0 L Ghia X and GLX. The new Mondeo will be delivered in Ford dealer showrooms starting in mid March; however, dealers may place orders now. More models of the Mondeo will be launched later this year.
With a Duratec HE aluminum alloy engine, double air bags, ABS+EBD+EBA, an instrument panel with multiple computer functions that provide travel information, 7-speaker stereo, 6-disc CD player and numerous other features, the new Mondeo will enable Chinese customers to fully indulge in the fun of driving.
No other car is as important for its manufacturer as Mondeo is for Changan Ford. With a German design heritage, Mondeo has been performing well in Europe, Asia and Africa. Ford Mondeo has beaten competitors and won Car of the Year in Europe. Additionally, Mondeo has grabbed more than 40 awards all around the world. Before the introduction of the 2004 model, more than 2.5 million Ford Mondeos have already been sold all over the world.
