96 Contour rough idle - Ford Forums

I am trying to get fix a rough idle on this car. It has the 4-cylinder / automatic trans. When you come to a stop, the engine idle is very rough, but if you put it in park or neutral (no torque on the engine) it is smooth. Other wise, while driving seems to be OK. I tried changing plugs and air filter but did not help. I was going to change the PVC valve, but you have to drop the catalytic converter to get to it!!! Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

Is your AC on or off??

Yes the AC is on. If I turn off the AC, the vibration goes down about 50%.
