i have a 96 contour 2.0

there is a serious slam 90% of the time when putting the car into gear, both forward and reverse, and slamming when letting off or getting on the throttle under normal driving conditions.

are there any known problems with the transmission, or as one person suggested, the cv shafts?

This is a problem I have with mine. There was a recall, on changing the wiring harness. 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty.
