98 Contour transmission...fault??

I have a 98 Contour,4,auto. I had the engine light come on. (camshaft sensor).
Well, I had a new timing belt, water pump, plugs and cables all replaced.
After leaving, it was hesitating on takeoff and began bucking slightly at speed 40+. I took it back to the garage and after he rechecked everything and
found it normal, he took it on a test drive. He told me the clutches in the tranny are kicking in and out of overdrive. Anyone heard of this? Is there something else to check before rebuilding tranny? Thanks.

Re: 98 Contour transmission...fault??

Have the transmission range sensor checked. I had the same problem with my 2000 contour. Replaced the sensor and haven't had a problem to date.

Re: 98 Contour transmission...fault??

Thanks. I'll check that out.
Did your OD light flash on and off or the speedometer needle jump? Mine didn't and I was told it may not be the sensor. I have still been riding it out and it is getting irritating. :)
