Question Air bag Control Light Problem

Hi , Can anyone help me please , I'm having problems with the airbag control light, it keeps illuminating while driving , was also wondering if anyone else has had a similiar problem? Is it dangerous to drive while it has that problem? and what did you do to fix it? Was it an expensive problem to fix? I would really appreciate any feedback. by the way I have a Ford Mondeo 98, In the owners guide it says it's that the light is surpose to illuminate for approximately 5 seconds when ignition is switched on, to confirm that the airbag and seat belt pretensioner systems are operational, but if it keeps illuminating while driving to get the system checked. Thanks

Re: Air bag Control Light Problem

If the Air bag light is staying on while driving, then it needs to go to a Dealer for service. It is not unsafe to drive, but the air bags will not deploy if involved in an accident when a fault is present.

Wink Re: Air bag Control Light Problem

Thanks Johnny, it blinks 4 times, then stops for around 2 to 3 seconds then does it again and again, i took it to a Ford dealer today and they said it was the airbag moduler, and that the part would cost $700, and that all up it was going to be $950, the truth i can't afford to pay that much, so i took it to another mechanic and he said he would do it for much less...so i'm hoping all goes well......after that i don't have to worry as the car was up for sale and was sold 2 days ago, but i promised i would fix it before handing it over, i didn't think it would cost me that much to repair it...i've never had much luck with cars , any idea on what i should buy next....?

Are you looking for a small car? Sporty car? Wagon? Truck? SUV? What would you like in a car. New or Used?

Angelica,
Under the drivers seat there is a little flap - you will have to pull the seat all the way forward.
If you unplug the wire under the flap, give it a little clean and plug back in you will be soretd....
