confused Ford 7000RDS Stereo System

hi i'm having problems with my stereo system. I had to change my battery last week which resulted in the stereo forgetting its code, so i simply got my audio guide and punched in the numbers that were on the front (pretty simple), they did not work the system deos not recognise the code. i have been told that the original number is on the top of the unit, i just wanted to know how to take the unit out there are 4 holes at the front of the unit which might be the way to get it out. i just need to know how to do it before i destroy anything.

thanks in advance :)

If you go to Halfords you can get a tool to pull it out for a couple of quid. It consists of 2 u shaped pieces of wire, push them into the holes and them you should be able to pull the unit out easily.

I thought the idea of the coded stereo's was for security as only the owner has the code so if stolen it would not go and therefore shoudn't be worth stealing. This probably doesn't put a thief off stealing it, but it would seem silly to put the code on the stereo if that was the case.

It will be interesting to know how you make out with it hitman.

believe it or not, the flipping number was on the top of the unit! the person at the ford centre put two pins in the 4 holes and pulled the unit out. the number was on the top in big red numbers. he had to get it checked through some sort of database first, to make sure that it was not stolen. only cost me £10.

Thats great to hear it worked out for you hitman.

I am surprised at the code on the stereo but now we know it is the case.

Thanx for responding with the info.

What model Ford do you have.
