confused Help 1995 Ford Contour GL transmission problem!!!

Hi everyone I want to thank everyone in advance who responds to my questions.

I just bought a 1995 Ford Contour GL in very good shape

except...

I had it for about a few days and then the transmission started to slip from drive to second gear. When I put the transmission in second gear no problems i could drive it with no problems. No other problems with the other gears. It started after my dad too it for a ride to the store. It started to sleip and when he put into second and drove back home it was fine.

Now it looks like the OD button was depressed and when it's not depressed its ok it shifts smooth. I was wondering if I change the transmission fluid and the filter would this help. I was told that this model only has an inline filter and want to change this too. Also there is a little leak from it and wanted to try some of that stuff you buy to try to stop leaks does anyone know if these products work?

Also could it be some type of sensor located on the transmission causing it to slip and change gears funny?

Any help would be appreciated

a little down about this lol. I thought I was getting a good deal lol.... I guess i might have to replace the transmission. Also can you disconnect the overdrive feature from the transmission without causing damage to it?

My dad is a mechanic but doesn't know a whole lot about tranmisssions. lol he can take them out and put them in and change the filters and fluid but thats it. Guess i am lucky there.

iwas gonna bring it in to the place that fixes them but i was told by a few ppl not to. so the closest place is 30 mins away and don't really want to take a chance driving it that far.
