Immobilser problems? Please help!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I brought my girlfriend a 1995 (M reg) 1.8 automatic Mondeo about six months ago as she badly broke her left leg (when she was 8 months pregnant) and can no longer drive a manual.
The car has been a problem from day one with the Immobiliser. Sometimes the car will be fine but every so often the Immobiliser will not let the car start (seems worse after short journeys). When you use the fob the light comes on as it should but the engine just turns over without firing.
I have not been able to find out what system the Immobiliser cuts off, when the car will not start I can get a spark from the plugs and there is still fuel getting through, I can only assume it cuts something in the engine mapping.
Last night the car was going along fine to then cut out while running, the engine still turned over fine but would not start. I put a voltmeter over the ignition fuse and found it was only getting 2.5v. Is this the Immobiliser???
Any one know how I can disable the Immobiliser completely or finally fix it once and for all? ( I would rather take it off completely)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Unless the PATS light flashes whilst there's no start, this isn't a PATS concern, you need to be looking elsewhere; firstly by getting a diagnostic run to see if there's any fault codes present.

Hi Spooly
I too have an M reg Mondeo and I experience exactly the same problem...the light responds to the remote, but won't allow the car to start. I have been told this can't be permanently disabled but wonder if you have found a way around this yet? If you have, any advice you can give me would be appreciated.
Thanks
