Re: key coding

I would have thought there'd be no need to reprogramme - it's a rolling code like most keys - so put in batteries and it should start working (may need to put in ignition and start car first, then remove so new code triggered - should then work to lock car).

At least, it worked in my 2000 mondeo......

Re: key coding

Hi,

I had the same problem on my '98 Mondeo 2.5 - when you take longer than 15 seconds to replace the batteries this may happen.

I took my car to the dealer and they fixed it in about 2 minutes - no charge!

What they did was to remove and re-insert two electrical plugs in sequence.

Behind the dashboard, below and to the right of the steering-wheel (RHD car) is an electrical box with two plugs going in, a blue one on the left and a green one on the right.

First remove the blue(left) then the green(right).
Now put back the green(right) then the blue(left).

That's IT!

Might be a similar procedure for your car?

Re: key coding

Hi you are not "coding"the key only registering it with the central locking ecu. This is easily done just follow the instructions on my page HERE If you have any problems it may be that the ecu has "crashed" in which case follow the directions of Bo$

"

Now register the key/s again as in link provided above.
Hope this helps.
