mis-firing mondeo.

i've had a problem with a misfire on my 1995 1.8 petrol mondeo for some time. it only happens at idle to 1500 rpm or so. i found that one of the ignition leads were faulty, so put on a new set.
the car ran perfectly.. for one day!
i replaced the spark plugs with NGK's and the car behaved perfectly.. for two days, and then the misfire gradually returned.
the coil is fairly new, as is the breather valve. any ideas would be gratefully received. thanks for looking!

Re: mis-firing mondeo.

Take the coil pack off and turn it over, if there's any signs of blackness in the underside, it's duff.

Re: mis-firing mondeo.

Hi Fordtech, as promised, here's what happened. i took off the coilpack, and examined underneath, but it looked perfect.
as i still had the old coilpack, i decided to swap them anyway, as i had tried everything else! yes, you guessed, the car now runs perfectly! thanks for your input.
the way that the car behaved, only misfiring at idle with no load on the engine, or at low revs, is not how i would have expected a faulty coil to behave. you live and learn!
