Mondeo 1.8TD

My 1995 mondeo 1.8TD has 209,000 miles on the clock and is still in exceptional condition. The engine has no oil leeks and burns no oil between changes.
BUT it is DEAD.
Acceleration is practical non existant is there anything that can be done to liven it up a bit.

I bought it in June 1996 with 1500 miles on the clock. It had been previously registered to Ford finance. It was advantageous to me because the VAT was still reclaimable plus It had depreciated by about £3000 for only 1500 miles on the clock.

Cool. You have done a few miles with it. Has it always been this gutless or is this something that has just happened. I'm surmising that it is a diesel and have found the one thing that really livens a diesel engine is a turbo.

Yes it is a turbo diesel (TD)

It was never a fast car but was passable enough.

But now it is completely gutless and considering its present market value I have no intention of spending much (if any) money on it.

I have been giving that some thought. I had a buyer for it about 2 months ago. Could have got £1000.

But I considered it was tested for a year had new tyres and no mechanical problems (except gutless) so if I kept it to the test and tyres ran out I could either dump it or retest it and take whatever I could get. very little depreciation.

I am thinking maybe a Daihatsu Fourtrak or a low end Merc to replace it.

Course by the time the test runs out it will be 8 years old and starting to become unusual I may hang on to it for novelty value.
