frown Mondeo Gia X 2.5 Auto O/D "off"

I am new to this site and i hope someone can help me.
The O/D off warning light is on and the car revs high in low gears before changing. I have checked the transmission fluid and its just over minimum.
Will i need to fill it up? and i have also been told it could be an electrical fault
all suggestions gratefully received!!

Re: Mondeo Gia X 2.5 Auto O/D "off"

Hi, couple of questions,
Is the O/D light on all the time or does it start flashing when you've been driving for a while? What happens when you press the O/D switch? Does it change at all ? There could be an issue with the switch, and as long as it remains switched off, the car WILL hold on to every gear, as it is programmed to do so. If it flashes it generally means the transmission fluid is overheating, and this could be due to a leak, a restriction, etc. cheers

thanks Backlash1,
the O/D light is on all the time and stays on when switching o/d on and off, could it be an electrical problem?

More than likely. I would start by looking at the switch and go from there. cheers
