When you look at the list of standard equipment it's good value:

17" wheels, climate control aircon, 6 stack CD, cruise control, keyless entry with deadlocking, four airbags, ABS, ESP yaw control, traction control, alarm/ immobiliser, 125kW Duratec V6....
The ST Hatch is the new model equivilent of the previous model ST24.
They are one in the same, except with the new model they changed to the hatchback body and dropped the 24 from the name.

Nutz, the turbo kits are available in the States, some guys on www.contour.org have turboed their cars (USA Contour has the same running gear and body as the Mondeo, only some cosmetic differences). Guys over there also run Nitrous, and there is a Contour SVT model which puts out 150kW standard, which has the same engine as the UK ST200.

Ideally I'd like to get the parts from the ST200/ SVT that are easily changed: throttlebody (60mm ID vs 54mm) and the extrude honed manifolds. Extractors are available off the shelf in the States too....The throttlebody off the Taurus is supposed to fit and be 60mm ID, but the Idle Air Control is built into it apparently unlike the ST24- so there are a few bits that would need changing. I tried to find one at a wrecker but they wanted over $250 and it was interstate- so I gave it a miss.

The 17" alloys off the Eibach Cougar are the same items as the UK ST200 wears and would be nice, but Ford want over $450 a wheel......

As for the filter, K&N make a pod filter kit that's sold overseas and bolts straight on (called a 57i kit), but the Australian distributor stuffed me around for ages saying he could get one and nothing ever eventuated. Hence why I made my own. Supposedly the 57i kit is good for 6hp at the wheels going by the dyno prinout on the K&N UK site.

you sure do know your stuff MondeoST24.....
Im will be gettin a set of wheels from my car in the not to distant future but am still not sure what wheels suit the car best... id love a set of kahns thou

Im not gonna bother trying to get anything imported from overseas as the few options i have thought about ended up cost way too much and the mucking around factor dosnt make it worth it in the end...

i was also wondering how you found out that there were only 266 mondeo ST24's in Aus...

I Emailed Ford Australia about a month ago and asked them, and was told that only 266 were sold here :) ! (Surprised the hell out of me when I got a response within two days.)

Go to www.st200.com and you'll see what an ST24 looks like with the 17" Cougar Eibach rims on it. The only difference in the body kit between an ST24 and the ST200 is twin exhaust outlets either side of the rear bumper. The ST200's are slightly lower and use the front subframe off the Cougar, which has better mounting points for the lower wishbones. They also have different trailing arms at the rear to allow extra clearance for the wider tyre/wheel combo.

The standard ST24 rims are actually made by Borbet, so they're certainly not a cheap rim. They are available O/S in 6.5" width as well, we only get the 6.0" on our ST24's .

Import duty is the killer for buying stuff O/S. I learnt that the hard way a few years back when importing bits for a Peugeot 306S16 from the UK.
