Mondeo ST 220 tested by a german magazine

The new Ford Mondeo ST 220 has been tested by German auto, motor und sport magazine:

V6

280 NMs @ 4900rpms

0- 60 3.7secs.
0- 80 5.6
0-100 7.6
0-120 10.5
0-130 12.0
0-140 13.6
0-160 18.2
0-180 23.5
0-200 30.6

Vmax 235kph

400ms, standing start 15.6 secs.
1 km, standing start 28.1

60-100 8.9/11.5 in 4th/5th gear
80-120 9.1/11.6 in 4th/5th gear

100- 0 37.1secs./10.5g cold brakes, full load
100- 0 37.1secs./10.5 warm brakes, full load
80% full speed(194kph)- 0 140.2secs./10.4g

handling
slalom 18ms 62.1kph
ISO 118.9kph

fuel consumption
min. 8.5l/100km
max. 14.3
in test 12.1
reach 488kms

list price
€33,250

This info was taken from a thread off Supercars.net forum. Thought poeple might be interested in it. I guess by looking at the price, it wouldnt be viable for Ford AUS to import it here and sell it at a competitive price. Fuel consumption is good though, average is even better than a standard 1.6L laser.

If you are lucky Ford NZ may decide to bring in the ST220 in which you may be able to import it from there.

In one test I read they managed to get the ST220 down to 6.8s from 0-100Km/h.

As an owner of a Mondeo ST24 id love to see the new ST220 get down to Australia as they are truly amazing cars and have recieved great reactions by many car magazines...

I also belive that it will never get to australia as it will most likely fail in sales like the ST24 did even though it is a fantastic all round car...

The main reason the ST24 failed was due to Ford's woeful advertising campaign...... How many people in Australia even realised there was a V6 Mondeo available?

By the way, good to see another Australian ST24 owner on here; only 266 were sold in Australia.

Have you modded yours?

To get an idea of a price for the new Mondeo go to Ford NZ web site and do a price comparison for the new model Mondeo (which they get!!) against a Falcon. That's the best way to get an idea of how much it would cost over here.

Well comparing my mums AU Fairmont Giha to my Modeo shows how great the different the build quality really is between the two...in favoure of the mondeo which is just so more solid....it was just a real sham that it didnt do well i aus...

anyway :beerchuge to all the mondy drivers!!!!!

Hopefully, I'll have some more pics on the web site soon as I've now got a digital camera. I just need to find the time to take them and update it all.

Soon I'll be doing some more work on the exhaust ... three catalytic converters, a resonator and two mufflers is a joke! I'd love to get some ST200 bits (inlet manifold and throttle body) from the UK but our dollar makes that way too expensive to even consider.

You need to get a pod filter, the sound from the V6 is amazing. Removing the LHS muffler also gives it a deep note at full throttle. Both feel to have made worthwhile improvements in power too.

The other Mondeo you were talking about is that an ST24??

EL XR6 that price of NZ$47,650 is for the new shape ST hatch, not the ST24, which is the older shape (HE).

When you look at the list of standard equipment it's good value:

17" wheels, climate control aircon, 6 stack CD, cruise control, keyless entry with deadlocking, four airbags, ABS, ESP yaw control, traction control, alarm/ immobiliser, 125kW Duratec V6....
