Hi all new to this hope you can help. Re: Mondeo V6 Clunk

It's difficult to say without hearing the noise but if it wasn't there before you had the work done then I would suspect that something has been damaged (wheel bearing or driveshaft possibly) or assembled incorrectly.

Have you complained to the people who did the work, or was the work an attempt to cure the noise?

Re: Mondeo V6 Clunk

Hi Mountain Man,

thanks for the reply, no unfortunately the noise was already there replaced those parts in an attempt to cure it bar the brakes as they just needed doing.

Really at a loss as to what it is, think it maybe the drive shaft so will get that and the innner and outer CV's replaced and see if that fixes it.

Cheers

Re: Mondeo V6 Clunk

Is the clunking regular and increases with an increase in speed (ie. linked to the rotation of the road wheel) or is it random?

Before spending any more cash I would have it checked out at more garages until someone drives it and seems confident they know what the problem is. After all, you don't have any obligation to have the work carried out by the people doing the diagnosis.

On that basis you might be wise to try a Ford specialist. It's not as if Mondeos are rare (even the V6's) so somebody must have come across this before.

When you sort it out be sure to post the solution.

Re: Mondeo V6 Clunk

Sounds a lot like inner cv's for the straight line vibration, and outers for the cornering noise.

Re: Mondeo V6 Clunk

Hi Mountain Man and Ford Tech,

thanks for the help, the clunking noise actually goes away when you are driving along it is only when I boot it in a straight line and just about all the time when I am taking off from standstill turning left at the same time, but when I am driving along no noise at all still driving Manchester to London weekly with no problems just real annoying knowing there is something not right but doesn't really effect the drivability. I Like having my car running sweet always, but don't know any mondeo specilaists in Manchester so not sure what I will do, too costly to just replace parts as a process of elimination. Might have to wait till it breaks unfortunately or replace the driveshaft with inner and outter CV's. Thanks once again for both your help
