I think I might have both problems on my hands.

When getting up to a certain speed the car starts to jerk. While driving on backroads at lower speeds, I don't have that problem. I'm wondering if it's the vehicle speed sensor.

We also got the P0708 code for the Transmission Range Sensor as well. Could the range sensor also be causing the speed issues? It does feel like it's slipping.

If I do have two issues, where in the world can I find how to replace them our own? Time isn't an issue, saving money is...

I'd deal with the trans range sensor first. Autozone has online repair manuals for free.

Replaced the VSS and that did not fix the problem. Could the transmission range sensor also make the car jerk while driving up to speed?

I'm trying to figure out what could be wrong..

The range sensor tells the PCM what gear it's in and if there's a bad connection, it will cause problems. Maybe that's not what's causing you're but it needs to be fixed.
