When did Mondeos start using chipped keys? - Ford Forums

I have lost the only set of keys to my 1994 Ford Mondeo (UK). I've
broken in OK and I know how to hot wire a non-chipped car but I was
wondering if anyone knew how I can tell if mine is chipped?
Alternatively can anyone suggest how I can get it going again? I don't
want to spend too much on it as the car is only worth a couple of
hundred pounds. Thanks.

I'm not certain that I know what a Mondeo is, never heard of it. But then I not heard of a lot. But the other day I saw in one of the messges a link to the Passive Theft systems, PATS, I believe that is on Fords. I was looking for info on a stuck ignition key. The link showed me a table of the various Ford models that required the "chipped" PATS ignition keys. THe thing that was most significant is that this PATS system on Fords didn't begin until the 1996 cars. Boy was I relieved. My cars are 1995 or older. So maybe you might not have a "chipped" key PATS automobile.
