I have a 1999 Contour 2.5L V6 24 valve DOHC and I'm getting a P0401 diag code. I'd like to replace the DPFE if I could find it. It does have an EGR vacuum solenoid. So where the heck is the DPFE. I'll clean the EGR valve and pipe. Thanks for your help!

As you are looking down into the engine bay, it will be located on the right side of the rear head (technically the rear of the head, if our engines weren't in sideways ), under the EGR/throttle body location.

It looks something like this, and will be made of either black plastic, or metal.

I found it. It was where you said it was but really buried and hard to see. Got thr DPFE changed. What a hassle!! Thanks again!!

Also, the EGR tube was clogged and I cleaned the EGR valve and throttle body. No more P0401 insufficient egr flow error.
