Cat Flow testing

Hey guys, Well i decided it was time to try and get some of the Crap from the good stuff sorted so i have got some figures ect to go through in the this little section for you.

Im in the proccess Of Making the best system i can for the Typhoons. I imported some Cats from the USA that i have been testing on Hypnodocs car and on my GTP and have been flow testing a few companies cats that are readily avaliable locally in Aus.

These cats Vary in cost from 200 to 600 dollars and the results are amazing.

FOr those that havent been given this info before basicly the Cat is always going to be your restiction in your exhaust system. You can have any size zorst you want but if the cat doesnt flow the air it needs to the system wont flow the air it needs to.

This section will be updated as i do tests to show the different gains ect on both the BOSS and the TYPHOON.

I dont have aneganices to any zorst companies or cat manufactures so ill just tell you guys what im going to use once ive done my tests and you guys can judge for yourselves what way you want to go.

Heres the First adition for the list

2.5 inch Pipe 520 CFM.

Factory Ford cats 300 CFM.

Now ill add the names of the cats in here and the flow figures in the next few days.

Hopefuly we can start to show you guys whats going to make you make thepower you want and for the best prise.

Sounds interesting Simon was always wondering about the factory cats, It's only thing that I haven't changed, had alot of mixed reports.

Hey Buddy,
Well you have to be careful because if you change the zorst to flowing to much without the edit it can cause some power losses as i found out the hard way before i got the flasher. All fixed now, im just going for the max flo as possible now.

Hi GTP-330.

Can you explain why there is a loss of power by having an exhaust flowing "too freely" without the flasher/edit?

What does the flasher/edit do to overcome that?

If you took the cat out of your system on a Bozz engine and ran it like that without the flasher you would loose power. The whole timing system ect is set up with manifold pressures ect and air densities. If you go out of these calibrated areas it begins to remove timimg ect and cause havoc. :(

Well i can tell you thus far that there is one cat that is leagues ahead of the rest.

Only problem is it wont fit up in the resticted space in length of the stock ones, Im going to test these on the Drag strip and the dyno in the next couple of weeks and i will be telling everyone who wants to listen, and no i dont sell them so i will get nothing out of it accept the good feeling that you will all benifit
