Ford Fusion Transmission Troubles

We have a 2010 ford focus with 40k miles. When slowly accelerating from a stop to 35mph, the transmission tries to downshift around 30mph. This downshift only lasts for a split second then it returns to it original gear. Most days this doesn't occur, in fact it happens less than once a week. I know it is not right, its like kickdown but no additional pressure is applied to the gas pedal. It seems to happen on cold mornings, but its getting warmer now so I bet it becomes less frequent. Does anyone know what this is? How long are the warranties on these transmissions?

Re: Ford Fusion Transmission Troubles

Is that a Focus or a Fusion? The warranty is for 5years 60,000 miles power train but testing it may be in the 3 year 36,000 warranty.

Re: Ford Fusion Transmission Troubles

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion 6 speed auto transmission. Was having a similar issue with the transmission slipping. It took several trips to the Ford dealership, they thought they had it fixed 3 times, rebuilt transmission etc.. but after the transmission got good and warm would do the same thing. I did some research on internet about same problems for other Fusion owners and found that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced. I had them order one and replace it. Get my car back next week. Will let you know how it runs after that but I believe it was the sensor all along.

Re: Ford Fusion Transmission Troubles

Thanks for the info, interested in hearing your results.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
