Gas grade for 3.0 duratec

The owners manual doesn't mention this for my 3.0 Fusion, but is 89 with 10% ethanol alright to use?

Re: Gas grade for 3.0 duratec

I stay away from Ethanol fuels like the black plague. I've read and heard about too many bad stories. I realize that for every bad story there is someone who hasn't had any problems. Also, I am not confident that the Five Hundred was designed to run with ethanol blends.

Stick with the regular 87 - and don't waste your money on the 91 premium, either.

You can use any grade of fuel you want, but keep in mind that using a grade higher than 87 is just wasting your money. The engine was designed for 87. You may notice (as I have) with more modern FI engines that the engine will use more fuel with higher octane gas. Not much more but it is noticeable.

You are correct. There are so many that think cars that were designed to run on 87 octane will run better and faster with higher octane fuel. NOT TRUE!
