My 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 1K miles met a deer on highway @ 65 MPH- pics inside

Hi all,

I am a happy (was) owner of 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I got it brand new from San Francisco Ford dealer 1 month ago. It is a fully loaded model with package 502A. I was enjoying it for whole month. Then we (my wife and daughter) took a trip to North Cal on our Ford to have a short vacation due to Labor day long weekend.
So about 9:30 PM on highway 70 at 65 MPH we met a deer. Interested to see what it looks like??? Here it is. Just to let you know it felt like we hit a wall. 6 airbags deployed, etc. But we walked away un-scratched. I did not even know that Ford has airbags down where pedals are! It's a great safe car. Looks like it's totaled but we are waiting for a final verdict.
Sorry for the quality of pictures. It was dark and we used cell phone.

Now pics:

Ooooo... OWNED!!! Boy, that's going to be a really expensive repair bill. Just the safety equipment alone is insane, being a hybrid is gonna make the bill skyrocket even more.

That is why I have a full insurance and gap coverage as well. Plus no one will repair it - insurance already "totaled" it. So this weekend I am going back to my Ford dealer to get same car :)

Damn. At least everyone was alright!

Every time I drive through northern MI, I feel as if the deer standing along the interstates eyeball the vehicles and choose which one they want to jump out in front of. On the bright side, not only was it not a moose, but with all six bags deployed it shouldn't have smelt too bad inside as the car was relatively new! If you have the space, you should see what your insurance company wants for the car (probably nothing) and buy it from them and hold it as a parts car, or sell it for parts yourself if you think it'd be worthwhile. I would bet the engine block would still be OK, and the battery pack is worth a pretty penny and shouldn't be cracked as it's located in the back. Otherwise, your insurance company will sell it to someone else to do exactly that.

Very interesting!!! How can I ask them if I want to get the car for a spare parts? Just offer some money or get their quote first? Will they agree to sell it to me? How can I get a lowest price to pay them for it? Please share details if you know as I never have hear of such a thing before. Thank you
