new fusion coupe - Ford Forums

i have heard some word about there being a fusion coupe in the near future. i personally think thats a good idea cuz of the fusion now is really a family sedan and i had always hoped for like at least a manual trans available for the v6, i also heard that they will probably be putting the new 3.5l v6 in the fusion....im pretty excited....and maybe an svt fusion???? if anyone knows anything more about any of this i would love to know more, thanks later

I can't see ford putting the 3.5L in the fusion for a few more years. WHy? ...because the 3.5L is the new engine in the taurus and midsize lincoln sedans. Once they bore the current 3.5L out to 4.0L (it can be done, ford designed this engine for this reason), then they might revamp the 3.5L and add it to the fusion line. Personally, the 3.0L V6 fits that car just fine with the 6 speed auto. It would be preferable with a 6 speed manual as the 4cyl 5 speed fusion I test drove was barely adequate with four people in the car.

I've read somewhere that the 3.5 is going in the Taurus.

That's right. It's already there. The 3.5 and just introduced 3.7L will be the new mainstream V6s for Ford cars and SUVs. Hopefully they'll put it into the Escape. At least the new 3.5 Taurus has gained AWD and no more CVT!

I've always though the Coupes were sweeter looking but I like the way Ford has done the Fusion 4 dr. Sedan also. I have no family but it's always handy to be able to access the back seat through a back door. This is my first 4 Dr. Sedan.
