The Fusion only comes in the 4 door but the body looks better. The engine
in the Ford is also more advanced supposedly. The fusion looks decent from
the back with the dual exhaust. Anybody tested both cars or have opinions?

I went with a G6 GT for three reasons: First, the G6 offers a manumatic transmission, the Fusion does not. Second, I was able to get $5400 in dealer and credit rebates off the G6, and only a mere $1250 off a Fusion SEL V6. Third, the powertrain warranty is a lot longer and I got three years worth of synthetic oil changes included in the price. So I couldn't pass on that.
Yes, the Fusion engine is more advanced - which means its more complicated. The 3.5L G6 engine design dates back to the early 80's. It's been updated several times since then of course to make it emissions compliant. Torque is also readily available at nearly any rpm. I find the Duratec 3.0L too peaky. My '99 3.0 Vulcan is a much better engine for an everyday city runabout.
