My last mechanic retired at the ripe age of 77, that's when I began doing a lot of my own work since labour rates around here are terrible.
I retired last June and was called to work for the City in Feb. Now I work part time. It IS hard to retire.

Re: Reliable Ford

I looked at a new 2010 Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ last week at the LA convention show, and I will honestly tell you the truth about it.

The vehicles have better seats compare with my new 2009 Honda Accord. I have to say the seats are really nice and beautiful on the design, but my friends and I dislike about the steering wheels on those vehicle, neither the vehicle dashes. They have some quality but ugly look.
About the engine compartments of the two, they don't have a very good finish and they look ugly too. The accessories around the engines of the two and the engines themselves don't look nice, or beautiful as what Ford described on the news.
I am the first Honda driver since 2008. I love this Accord so much that when I drive it every day, and my friends alway admire about the car I currently have. It's beautiful from inside out and under the hood too. Except I wish the two front seats from the Fusion would need to be in my Accord.
I have to say Honda is always the best compare with a Ford, Fusion.

Thank you,
Tony

Re: Reliable Ford

I've had a lot of imports in the last 20 years, and a lot of domestics, too, so I would consider myself unbiased. I have had good success in regards to reliability on quite a few Fords from the 80's (whose platforms date back to the 70's, though).
1986 Ford Taurus LX
1986 Mustang GT
1987 Crown Victoria P72
1992 Crown Victoria LX
1992 Mustang LX Notch
All of the above cars went well over 100k with absolutely no problems whatsoever. My parents have had a few Windstars that were pretty much problem free up until about 130k miles or so, when the inevitable transaxle failure happened.
I now have an '06 Fusion, which has been somewhat problematic. Thankfully it's known issues are well documented on the forums, and TSBs have been issued for just about every issue with it.
