Spare Key and MPG enhancement upgrade
Hi, I just bought a used 2013 Fusion Hybrid today. It came with only 1 key (Flip Key). I have seen flip-key replacements online but I don't quite know what I need to buy. Some (on ebay) state "Cut Key". Are they all the same "Cut" but differently programmed? Or do I need an "un-cut" or "blank" key and have it cut by a locksmith and programmed? Is it DIY programming? I really need to have a backup (or 2) in place but don't want to spend what I assume is an outrageous price from the dealer. Any info on this is appreciated.
Also, I read: "The company announced a plan “aimed at improving on road fuel economy customer satisfaction,” Ford global product development group vice president Raj Nair said today in a press conference. It asks current hybrid owners to bring their vehicles back to dealers for “enhancements” designed to improve real-world hybrid fuel economy."
Since my Fusion was purchased used, a couple of questions come up. How would I know if mine has already had the "Enhancements" performed, and will they do it at no charge if it hasn't already been done?
Thanks in advance.
