My younger son drove the car to his friend's birthday party. Five cars
in that neighborhood were vandalized. The damage to the Volvo was a
broken driver side mirror.
I want to replace it myself. Will the side view mirror from a 740 fit
the 940?

My Vadis shows that the last year for the 740 was 1992 (FWIW). It does
seem to indicate that the mirrors for the 960 and 940 for 1993 are the
same part numbers.

The 740 and 940 use the same mirror, within a year span. The early 700s
used a different mirror than the later 700/900. The easy way to tell is
the older type the chrome (or black) window scraper molding goes under
the mirror to the front edge of the door, the later type ends at the
mirror.
