Anyone out there have experience using the subject under dash connector for
powering amatuer radio transceivers? I suspect that the connector is there
for purposes such as powering radio gear, based on the popularity of the XC
series in police and other public safety service in Europe.

It's there for anything. It has wires with constant power, ground,
accessory power, ignition power, you name it. It's all fused, just
connect to the wires you need to use.
