Lid Lifted On C70 Folding Metal Top
This stunning newcomer based on the Volvo C70 raised the roof at last week's Geneva Motor Show. Featuring a metal folding top, the coupé cabriolet has been built by Finnish design specialist Valmet.
Based on the powerful C70 T5, the new machine features a stylish three-part metal roof the rigidity of which offers improved refinement and durability over the standard canvas lid. The car's 240bhp, 2.3-litre turbo engine gives 149mph top speed, and the 0-60mph sprint takes 7.5 seconds. The smooth shape of the tin top also promises better aerodynamics, bringing improved fuel economy and performance.
The roof doesn't encroach on rear seats, or take up much boot space, meaning the C70 is still practical. Although strictly a concept, Valmet will carry out work for individual customers. However, at this point the firm is chasing a production deal with big-name players such as Volvo, BMW and VW.
