Did Volvo release any new models this year? That article mentions the
top 5 cars, and says they're typically only tested if they've been
redesigned. There's no denying that other automakers have done a lot of
catching up since Volvo pioneered many safety features decades ago, but
they're still very safe cars.

The P2 platform is old that's why... It was top notch when it came out, and
is still pretty damn industry leading... just not at the top.

Plus... everyone can do safety nowadays - plug the right data into your
computer model, do a few real crash tests, spend the money in the right
steels and techniques, plus tons of airbags and you have a safe car......
According to one test group - I like to see real world crash statistics, I
like my odds in a Volvo even if it was rated, say 4 stars at 35mph - I bet
it holds up better then a lot of 5 star cars at higher speeds! My Golf got 5
stars front... and the 960 got 4 stars............................ Do you
honestly think a Golf is a safer car? (don't get me wrong... they are pretty
good)

Yes, in a crash identical to those tested.
