does anyone know if a later 300tdi alarm will fit an earlier 300tdi model.
after problems with mine i am looking to replace the ecu, mine is a 1995
model with a ecu number of AMR 4886, i have found a later one, ecu number
6428 out of a 1998 disco. the units are identical with the same plugs etc. i
am hoping the only difference in the numbers is software version but before
i shell out any cash i want to be certain.

I had the injection pump on my 300tdi changed under warranty, it took the
dealers 1/2 a day to change the pump & 2 days to make the alarm recognise
the pump, something about the pump & alarm being paired as part of the
imobiliser. This might have been b@ll@cks but that is what they told me.

I guess your 95 disco has a one button type remote control.

The 98 will have a two button type and is a totally different system to
the one button..

its a two button system, just been in touch with a company called remote
key, they can reprogram the key fobs and program the ecu to the car for
about £25
